Are you ready to conquer pronouns? Let's get going!
Welcome to ESL Connexus
(ESL Connexus and Migros Aid Indy partner to help teach refugees English!)
ESL Connexus is dedicated to bringing the nations together through language, culture, and compassion. This mission will be accomplished primarily through language learning, cultural immersion, and outrageous acts of compassion.
Language learning is critical in building community between strangers. If you can't understand and communicate with a person, you will remain strangers. There will always be a distance between you. If you are brave enough, dedicated enough, and compassionate enough, you will either teach the outsider your language, or you will learn the stranger's language. This slow moving, humbling, and often painful process of language learning is the perfect friendship and community builder. ESL Connexus provides the Growing Participator Approach to learning a language. All you need is a stranger to learn with and a heart of compassion.

Cultural immersion is critical in building community between strangers. ESL Connexus provides cultural immersion through Beyond Bethany Tours to the land of the prophets. These international excursions focus on cultural training, spiritual development, and outrageous acts of compassion. Allow Beyond Bethany Tours to tailor the perfect trip to the land of the prophets for your family, church, or small group. These trips focus on walking in the footsteps of the prophets in Jordan, Israel, and Egypt. Each trip will focus on bringing your faith to life through a spiritual pilgrimage to ancient and holy sites found in the scriptures. Watch your faith and understanding of the scriptures come alive as you begin to understand the Middle Eastern culture. Experience your faith in action as you bring emotional, physical, and spiritual healing through outrageous acts of compassion to those in need.

Outrageous acts of compassion are critical in building community between strangers.
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40
As the ESL Connexus team delivered sports kits to an all-girls elementary school in Jordan, my heart was overwhelmed with compassion for these beautiful refugee children. When ESL Connexus announced that the sports kits were from both the Christian and Islamic community of Indianapolis, the administration of the school was overwhelmed by the outrageous act of compassion. The community leader sitting next to me began to tear up and then launched into a heartfelt speech about the need for more cooperation between Muslims and Christians. Jesus words rang so true in that moment. "Love your neighbor as yourself." As a father, it was wonderful watching how this trip changed the life of my son Jackson.
